Digital identity

Digital identity is nothing more than a digital version of a person’s unique

identity. The existing ways of the identities are government-issued identity

documents like the passport, driving licence etc. In other terms, digital

identity is a trusted and secure way to prove a person’s identity to prove

that they are whom they claim to be.

Decentralised identity: A decentralised identifier (DID) is a pseudo-

anonymous identifier for a person, a company or an object. DID works

on the public/private key principles. DID for an entity is secured by a

private key that is unique to that entity. Only a private key owner can

prove their identity. One person can have multiple DIDs associated with

different activities in their life.

Self-sovereign identity: Self-sovereign identity (SSI) is used to enable

people and businesses to store their own identity data on their own

devices and are in full control to share full or part of the information

without a need for a central database of identity data controlled by the

government or corporates.
